about

This shape-note song, written in 1991, is named in honor of Larry Gordon, the director and founder of Village Harmony and Northern Harmony. Megan’s first exposure to shape-note singing was on a European tour with Larry in the late 1980s. With its rather modern chordal structure, the piece provides a fine example of the contemporary revival of this rich, early American compositional form.
